WCAG image checklist

• Informative images have meaningful alt text (not empty, not filename).
• Decorative images use empty alt="" so screen readers skip them.
• Linked / button images describe the destination or action, not just “image”.
• Complex images (charts, diagrams) have a short alt plus longer text nearby.
• Essential text in images is also available as real text on the page.
• Product / gallery images describe what is shown (not keyword lists).
• AI-generated alt text is reviewed by a human before publish.
• There is a process to find and fix missing alt across the media library.
